Development and design

The 2005 Sea Ray Sundancer series was designed as a line of elegant and athletic express cruisers and cabin cruisers, focusing on a balance of performance, comfort, and sophisticated styling. All 2005 Sundancer models feature a fiberglass (GRP) planing hull, and are known for durability and a stable, smooth ride. A key construction technique involved coating hull stringers with resin before installation and securing them with a structural bonding compound to create a unified and strong hull-to-stringer bond. The cockpit layout is widely praised for the efficient use of space, featuring seating arrangements designed for socializing and entertaining. This includes a wet bar with a sink and cooler/refrigerator, ample seating, a full canvas enclosure option, and integrated swim platforms. Molded-in steps provided safe and easy access to the bow, which includes a sun pad area.

History of the Sea Ray Sundancer

The Sundancer was first introduced in the 1970s, revolutionizing the cabin cruiser segment of the boating industry. These boats are known for their sleek, sporty designs and comfortable layouts, often featuring a deep-V hull for a smooth ride, and are designed for both day cruising and overnight stays. Construction and quality: As with all Sea Ray boats, models from 2005 were built with Sea Ray’s focus on quality materials and craftsmanship, a trait that helped the brand become a leader in the industry. Sea Ray boats are made in multiple locations in the United States, with manufacturing facilities in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Merritt Island, Florida.
