Development and Design

The Extreme 645 Game King is a New Zealand-designed and manufactured aluminium fishing boat, developed by Extreme Boats, an in-house team that handles design, CNC operations, fabrication, and fit-out. It is renowned for its stability, build quality, and practical, fishing-oriented design. The boat features a broad beam at the waterline, a 20.5-degree deadrise, and an integral downturn chine. This combination provides excellent stability at rest, aids in spray deflection, and contributes to its rough water performance. It also has a flooding keel chamber for enhanced stability when at rest.
The cockpit design emphasizes uncluttered floor space with features like cantilevered seating to stow bags away and a large wheelhouse that offers extensive space and clear visibility. A walkthrough transom with a storable door provides easy access to the large bait tank. The Extreme Game King 645 has ample storage which is a key design element, including a large, dry, and lined console area that can house a toilet, underfloor kill tanks, and well-designed side pockets.

History of the Extreme Game King 645

There is no single “release date”  for the Extreme Game King 645 as the model has been available for several years, with ongoing updates and the Centre Console version winning an award in 2021. The 645 Centre Console variant won the prestigious “Overall boat of the show” award at the 2021 Hutchwilco Boat Show in New Zealand. The boat has been on the market for some time, with reviews and updates dating back to at least 2016, 2017, and 2018. As of late 2024, it continues to be featured and reviewed, indicating a continuous production run and ongoing refinement. It has since been updated with a new model, the 646 Game King, in August 2023.
